English grammar-এ Articles একটি ছোট কিন্তু অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয়। সঠিকভাবে article ব্যবহার না জানলে বাক্যের অর্থ অস্পষ্ট বা ভুল হতে পারে। Article হলো এমন একটি শব্দ যা কোনো noun-এর আগে বসে noun-টিকে নির্দিষ্ট বা অনির্দিষ্টভাবে চিহ্নিত করে। English-এ মোট ৩টি article আছে: A, An, The.
Indefinite Articles: A & An. A এবং An ব্যবহার করা হয় যখন কোনো noun নির্দিষ্ট নয়।
Use of “A”: Consonant sound দিয়ে শুরু হওয়া শব্দের আগে A বসে। Example: a book, a university (এখানে ‘you’ sound)
Use of “An”: Vowel sound দিয়ে শুরু হওয়া শব্দের আগে An বসে।
Example: an apple, an hour (silent ‘h’)
Definite Article: The. The ব্যবহার করা হয় যখন কোনো noun নির্দিষ্ট বা আগে উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে।
Uses of “The”: আগে উল্লেখ করা noun বোঝাতে "The" বসে।
Unique বস্তু (the sun, the moon)
Superlative degree-এর আগে
নদী, সমুদ্র, পর্বতমালা, সংবাদপত্রের আগে
Example:The Padma River, The best student.
Zero Article (No Article): কিছু ক্ষেত্রে কোনো article ব্যবহার করা হয় না।
Zero article ব্যবহৃত হয়: Proper noun (ব্যক্তির নাম, দেশ), Plural noun সাধারণ অর্থে, Abstract noun সাধারণ অর্থে।
Example: He loves honesty. Students should study regularly.
Common Mistakes in Articles: Sound না বুঝে a/an ব্যবহার করা, প্রয়োজনীয় জায়গায় “the” বাদ দেওয়া, Abstract noun-এর আগে ভুলভাবে article বসানো।
Fill in the blanks, Error reminds, Passage writing এসকল ক্ষেত্রে Articles অনেক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। Articles ভালোভাবে আয়ত্তে থাকলে grammar-এর বড় একটি অংশ সহজ হয়ে যায়।
